Behind the Design

When someone sees a finished shirt, collection, or handcrafted piece, they see the final result. What they do not always see is everything that happened before it—the first idea, the meaning behind it, the choices that shaped it, and the story I hoped it would tell.

That is why I wanted to create Behind the Design.

MJ Supply Co. was built around the idea that what we wear can mean something. A design can represent our faith, reflect the things we love, remind us of a season we survived, or help us express a part of ourselves that is not always easy to put into words.

The finished product matters, but the story behind it matters too. This blog is where I get to slow down and share that part of the process with you.

More than the finished product

A lot of creative work happens before a design ever reaches a product. Sometimes an idea begins with a verse, a phrase, a memory, a season, or a feeling I want to capture. Other times, it begins with a person and the story they trusted me to help represent.

From there, I start working through the message, imagery, colors, placement, and products that can tell that story most clearly. Some ideas come together quickly. Others change several times before they finally feel right. I want to share both sides of that process—not only what worked, but also how the idea grew along the way.

Each Behind the Design post will take you deeper into a specific design, collection, collaboration, or creative decision. Depending on the story, that may include:

A look inside MJ Supply Co.

I also want this space to show the real work of building MJ Supply Co. This brand is still growing, and many of the things you see are being created one decision at a time. Behind the Design gives me a place to share the thinking behind those decisions and bring you into the process instead of only showing you the polished result.

You will see stories from across the Gospel, Nightfall, Studio Essentials, Seasonal, and Handcrafted Collections. Some posts will be personal. Some will focus more heavily on the artwork. Others will highlight the people, partnerships, or experiences that helped bring a piece to life.

No matter what kind of design I am sharing, the purpose will remain the same: to show that there is more behind the product than what you see at first glance.

Where your story begins

I may be the person who starts a design, but I do not get to decide everything it will eventually mean. Once someone connects with it, wears it, gives it as a gift, or carries its message into their own life, the design becomes part of a new story.

That is the heart of Wear Your Story. The goal is not simply to make merchandise. It is to create pieces that give people a meaningful way to carry what matters to them.
