Amazing Grace
The story, faith, and personal meaning behind one of the first designs created for the MJ Supply Co. Gospel Collection.
Some words are so familiar that it can be easy to forget just how powerful they really are. “Amazing grace” is more than the beginning of a hymn—it is a reminder of the love, forgiveness, and hope that God gives us even when we have done nothing to earn it.
When I started working on the Gospel Collection, I knew I did not want to create designs that simply looked Christian. I wanted each piece to carry a message—something that could represent a person’s faith, start a conversation, or remind them of what God has brought them through.
That is where the idea for Amazing Grace came from.
The heart behind it
Grace is something I think we can all relate to in different ways. None of us has everything figured out. We all have mistakes, struggles, questions, and seasons when life does not go according to plan.
But grace reminds me that my worst moment does not have to be the end of my story. It reminds me that God can still meet me in the middle of uncertainty, carry me through what I cannot handle on my own, and continue working even when I cannot see what He is doing.
That is what I wanted this design to communicate. It does not ignore the hard parts of life. Instead, it points to the hope that can still be found in the middle of them.

The meaning in the design
Every part of the Amazing Grace design was chosen with intention. The Bible represents the foundation of God’s Word—the place we can return to for truth, direction, comfort, and reassurance.
The reaching hands represent surrender, worship, and our dependence on something greater than ourselves. Together, those elements tell a story of being found, restored, and carried by grace.

The full design represents redemption—the reminder that being lost does not mean we cannot be found.
The phrase itself is connected to one of the most recognizable hymns ever written. Its message has carried people through worship, loss, celebration, change, and some of the hardest moments of their lives.
I think it continues to mean so much because everyone has a different story of grace. For one person, grace may look like a second chance. For someone else, it may be the strength to survive a season they never expected to face. It can look like forgiveness, healing, provision, or simply the reminder that God is still there.
More than something to wear
The Gospel Collection is built around the belief that what we wear can say something meaningful. The Amazing Grace design was not created to be just another graphic on a shirt. I created it to be a wearable reminder of what God has done—and what He is still doing.
Someone may wear it because God brought them through something they never thought they would overcome. Someone else may wear it as a reminder that their past no longer defines them. Another person may simply need to remember that the chapter they are currently living through is not the end of their story.
That is what Wear Your Story means to me. I can create the design and give it an original purpose, but its deepest meaning comes from the person who chooses to wear it.
Grace is still writing the story
The Amazing Grace design is for anyone who has ever been changed, carried, forgiven, restored, or found by the grace of God.
You do not have to hide where you came from when your story shows how far His grace has brought you. That story may encourage someone else who is still trying to find their way forward.
